I was feeling the winter storms, so I painted this male Blackburnian Warbler.

Watercolors. Lifesize: 5x7. Coldpress paper.

The quality isn't stellar, because I used a digital camera instead of a scanner.

Hi! Sorry I haven't posted here in a long time... guess I haven't made much bird art lately!

Anyway, here's a painting of an Eastern Rosella!

(Are thumbnails okay? Click for full size)

It's acrylic on wood.

How's everyone doing?

I've been interested in playing with watercolor for awhile, and figured this would be a great excuse to do so! So I painted a little Carolina wren! It looks a bit funky because I used a sedge wren photo for the pose and tried to change it into a Carolina wren, but for a first try it didn't come out bad! Carolina wren!Collapse )

My list so far - a whopping 3 pieces finished! - can be found here, or my DA account here!

Hey everyone! Been out doing a bit of bird photography, and I find some great artistic inspiration and ideas from photos. Would any one else here be interested in trying to pool our resources and create sets of stock photos for different species? That way, as others are creating artwork, they have something to work from if they'd like! Of course, if you'd like to contribute, you'd be giving permission for people here to use your photos as references. (although Credit Where Credit Is Due is always good!)

Just thought that might be a fun way to drum up ideas for art, and give everyone a great resource pool to work from for anatomy, poses, or whatever! :)
